This happened back in 2005. The excavator has since been repaired and put back into service.

It has been "repaired"? I'm sorry but I just don't see that happening.

There is a report on this one on the web. The failure was a mount/clevis failure in the structure where the mast stay attaches near the winch room on the counter weight.

Crack at a badly designed joint. Not picked up during structural inspections. Fast failure.

bwe from before and after are not the same model of bwe. first is schrs630x25/6 and the second one is schrs1760x32/5.
